Control home lighting? like recess lighting around the house?

I bought some magnetic contact sensors on ebay, installed them on the cabinet doors, wired them to the apex break out, and now when I open my cabinet doors the lights under the cabinet come on.

Nice!! you gotta post instructions on how you did that.

No hard wiring. Once you plug it in. theres a button you press so it picks up your router.

Will have to pick one up and give it a try but I had it hard wired and could not get it to do anything

Can I get in on the viewing? Need ideas for programming. It's been a long time since I had to to basic or pascal but once I see some I think I will get it. Lol or just copy it

I added you to my account. Anyone can look at reeftronics.net and look at a lot of apex users programs for ideas.

ryecoon, I noticed on your heater programming that you have a variance of 79-82. I used to keep my temp at 81 but now like 78-79 for more forgiveness in heating and cooling.

Also your fuge fan kicks on at 79 and off at 78. Does it run all the time?

Nice!! you gotta post instructions on how you did that.

Step 1)
do a search on ebay for magnetic contact sensor and get something like this DIY Normally Close Switch Magnetic Reed Door Window Contacts Sensor | eBay

Step 2)
wire the contact to the apex breakout, one wire goes to a open port on the breakout, the other to the common
(if your cheap like me, you can make your own breakout by using an Apple/Mac Serial Cable (MiniDin8) just cut it in half and you will have 2.)
install the wired side on the cabinet frame, and the magnet on the cabinet door

Step 3)
on my apex, I created a virtual outlet called "LeftDoor", and set its on/off status to equal the breakout port that the sensor is attached to. In my case its switch 4, so the Left Door program looks like this:
If Switch4 OPEN Then ON
If Switch4 CLOSED Then OFF

Step 4)
on my apex, I created an outlet called CabLight and set its program to:
Fallback OFF
If Outlet LeftDoor = ON Then ON
If Outlet LeftDoor = OFF Then OFF
