Derasa is around 200-250 and maximax 300-350. These are rough estimates, but you should have the ability to provide more intensity for both if they require it. Derasa should be placed on the sand or flat solid surface, they only stay attached when they are very small and depend on their weight and size to keep them in place.

What size nano? You'd need a lot of par and stable parameters. It's going to hard to keep calcium and alkalinity stable with a healthy growing clam that can get over a foot long pulling calcium and alk from that water column

Stable water parameters and plenty of quality light. You should be able to provide the clam with at least 350 micro moles for at least 8hrs a day of full spectrum lighting.

They’re both in and pretty happy so far. How long on average does a maxima take to attach to a rock?

Depends. I've had maximas that attached almost immediately, while others seem to never attach for very long. It might take a couple days, but they should attach to a solid surface.

Derasa clams are sand dwellers. If acclimated they can handle as much par as you can probably generate. Sweet spot 200-300

I’m not sure as I don’t have a par meter, but my kessil runs 70% at peak, 9 hour photoperiod

I think my LFS steered me wrong.. they sold me a Blue Maxima Clam and say it needed really high flow and no mention of PAR. I am working to increase my intensity as I am only running about 50%. But increasing 1% a day currently. PAR at the highest part of my tank is only about 150. Ugh. Also, my parameters may be a little high for it I fear.. working on water change. Thoughts?

Alkalinity (dKH) = 8.0
Calcium (Ca2) = 497
Magnesium (Mg2) = 1430
Nitrate (N03) = 19.6
Phosphate (P04) = 0.12

your parameters look ok, clams prefer higher PH though. your LFS also doesn't seem to be giving out good info either. clams in general will get stressed in high flow and do best under 300+ PAR.

IME, it’s not so much about high flow - First think about where they are on a reef, that’s where the current is often strongest above them. But it’s more about if the mantle is moving. If the mantle is constantly flapping up then it’s an issue but if the mantle is only lifting every so often I’ve found clams don’t mind it.

Personally I would consider your salinity, pH, and alkalinity to be on low side. Ca near 500 doesn’t mean anything and won’t cause issues.

I would be looking to get the clam in brighter light faster than 1%/day increase if it’s only sitting at 150 par currently.

Photos of the clam under white light? Is there new shell growth along the edge of the shell?

Thanks.. he is only been in my tank a few days but seems fine so far.. I do not want to increase light intensity too fast of course.. but at 1% I suspect it will be another week or two before I get to 300. The mantle is moving slightly but not constant so I think flow is good.

They will look fine until they don't. They can live for months while slowly starving and looking fine. Which is why I asked if it has a white growth band on the edge of the shell. New shell growth is a good indicator that the clam is getting enough light.

If you think it will only be a week or two that's one thing but you mentioned you were around 50% intensity and 150 par. So 1%/day would be another 50 days to get to 100% and 300 par. Although 250par may be enough. Depends. Clams like light more in the whiter spectrum vs the heavy blue you see a lot these days. You could always get a small 5000k led spot light that has a narrow focus and shine it specifically on the clam.

Ok here are some pics under white as he was closing up a bit.. I am at 60% and will retest PAR tomorrow. What spot light do you recommend? That is a great idea!
