honestly I use the cheapest one I could find on ebay lol. works great. but if you got the bank for it I would go with a digital refractometer. all depends on what you want to spend.

just look for one thats duel scale (sg and salinity ppt) and ATC. thats about all that matters. then youll need calibration fluid.

I use the Red Sea refract. and its been spot on. You just have to recalibrate it every now and then. Drip some drops of r/o water/distilled water on the glass, then use the screwdriver they provide you with to adjust the salinity to zero. Happy reefing and welcome to reef2reef! @csant2612

I would leave the lights on for 8 hours then adjust from there as needed. and yes, its normal for the coral to retract at night.

Welcome.
Good advice guys!
Check out the beginning hobbyist links and learn the basics.
Learn to test the water. And yea it seems like you shouldn't trust the LFS. None of us would put that much in a tank that new. That would take me months to do from absolute scratch.

I have a question,

Does this coral move by itself ..today I found it under the rock..I never see this coral being at one place. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?
