Hey All -

Just wanted to hear how often many of you mag float / clean your glass? I know many use it as an indicator of phosphate levels possibly creeping up, so I was wondering how often many of you have to clean your glass and rid it of that pesky film.

( I also ask, because I am running GFO and still find myself frequently having to clean it )

I am at a little over a week. Alot of that is to keep the coraline at small dots to stop it from getting difficult to remove.

Every other day. I have three sides to clean but I use the time to really examine the tank and look out for "things", whatever that means!

My tank is only about 12 weeks old and although my phosphates are 0 and all other prams are good I'm cleaning every evening film from my glass. I do have a cyano outbreak so the tank is going dark for 3 days after I siphon off the red stuff. Then I will have to feed less as this is the only thing I think I'm doing wrong

The front glass, every other day.
The sides maybe once a week.

Nutrients in general, not just phosphate. Even trace elements play a role.

I cleaned mine every few days.

Does anyone notice hard to remove green dots under the film algae?
It comes off with a razor but just curious if its the same film that hardens...

Twice a week for my front glass. The other 3 sides are completely covered in coralline algae

Everyday and I also have a GFO reactor. My guess is my tank is near a window and hit by sunlight. I am taggin' along on this thread. I need a solution.

I do about once a week or so on each of my tanks. I don't use a mag float though, got rid of those a while ago. Granted I have small tanks, all 26gal or less. I just use one of the scraper blades that are attached to a stick.
