Not that it really matters, but judging from the rough age of the tank and the dimensions i dont think it was a custom tank so to speak but a aga 265. I have one now older one and its 84x24x31. Broke a piece drilling it and thought about cutting it down to 24" to get below the break. Looking at the rough top edge from the first pics id venture to say thats what happened here too. Should be 19mm glass on bottom non tempered and 13 or 14mm on sides. Not that it matters just an observation

It originally had a trim on it that I pulled off because it did nothing for the tank structurally. I prefer a rimless look even with the bracing, doubt it was ever a 265G considering it had its orginal trim on top. The cuts on the glass all around are rough, I had to manually sand them down myself so I didn't get any cuts.

Last update before heading to the airport with @joshporksandwic for MACNA in DC.

Managed to pick up the acrylic materials for the sump, we'll be working on this coming up Labor day. 3/8" material, more info below in the diagrams.
Some of the details are off as I was still modifying it but overall it should be around the same once its all done.

2-Part Dosing container. I'll be using ME Coral chemicals for this tank as well. Nothing but the best thanks to @marke

Big mess as you can see. Ended putting in a little time to try and level off the tank due to the pitch in the garage. This will help with the overflow skimming, made the mistake on the first frag tank and did not check to see if it was level. Needless to say, one side was higher then the other but no big deal.

Off to bed, heading to MACNA in a few hours! Bringing $$$, planning to bring back some nice stuff.

Small updates, got a few things done but now have concerns.

Sold these pumps:

For these:

Got the sump built today, pretty quick work. Still need the matching 2-part dosing containers made. Pieces are already cut out, Matt will be putting it together himself.

In place, still need to get a thin liner under it so it can balance itself out. That will be another day, I had to pull the shims out completely to get this mini monster sump in place.

Another MACNA goody I picked up was this Bubble King Double Cone 250+ RD3 Speedy. It is HUGE and an overkill for my system... height wise will be borderline. Standing at 23.23" height, keeping in mind that my stand only allows 24.5" of space to work with. I might have to cut the wood above it for more clearance, something I didn't want to do but might have to for the sake of space. Other problem is that... I might not be able to get it in and out once it is set in place. As long as it clears the end of the sump panels I will be ok because the baffles are lower. ***, careful planning and still... LOL or rather this skimmer wasn't part of the plan nor were the Vortechs.

This is turning into one heck of a budget build. lol

My girlfriend was right, I should have known better then to put a "budget" price. Her initial estimate was 20k... yeah right! LOL, it's still under what I planned or not.

Anyways, I got a few more awaited goodies! My "Jecod" return pumps, I still call them Jebaos. Ended up with the DCT-15000, this should be plenty of water flow for the tank. At 3,900gph this will feed the cube tank and the 210G. I assumed the inlet and outlet was 1.5", the same as the DC-12000 but I was wrong. Looks to be 2", another trip to Home Depot or Lowes tomorrow.
21250040332_86aebe3a88_z.jpg

So big it has a handle. LOL
21234297676_a938d43a76_z.jpg

Plumbed in with 1.5", some head loss due to sizing it down but no big deal. Majority of the plumbing is cemented together or teflon and screwed together. Likeliness of leak in my case is very slim. Still need an adapter piece from the pump to piping and then the pieces below will be cemented. BIG NICE return section!

BRS order came in today. Received my 1.5" true union ball valve, loc lines, and silicone to reseal a few areas of the tank.
20637844014_fe8c5b2699_z.jpg

Used thread fitting since its an expensive ball valve, takes up space but well worth it if I have leaks.
21072448570_c22648a6ab_z.jpg

From the manifold 1" reduced at the bulkheads to 3/4" and the split into dual 1/2" outlet with ball valves for adjustment. Looks like an over kill but if its too much then I can always just go back to 3/4" outlets.
21250038942_ffcc243e0b_z.jpg

Based on what I've seen with other build threads and online reading, I decided to use a loc line with a nozzle on it. Reason being is this will act as a siphon break if the pump ever turns off. In either case this will be slightly above the water line or I can use airline tubing and have it feed to the external overflow box so it will break the siphon.

Looking good. Wow! That pump is a monster. Very cool idea regarding the little nozzle on the Loc-Line for breaking siphon....may have to do that myself. Keep It up!

I'll be testing it next week, hopefully considering this week is almost over. Still need to do a few other things before I can fill it with tap water.

Might as well start my reminders here:
-Clean and apply silicone to tank
-Shim tank again
-Complete return pump piping

Completed the return piping today, no pictures. Nothing special but I'll post pictures later.

Hoping to see the skimmer within a few days, before the weekend.

On another note, I picked up a yoga mat to use instead of foam board under the sump. It's dense enough (1/4") to help keep the acrylic from flexing and cracking under weight. Normally most use 1/2" but I'm not normal. LOL

No skimmer yet, been trying to email the sales rep but no reply. :( Had to fire off another email to a few people who work at Royal Exculsiv.

Today I was going to take a break but got home from work and no girlfriend gave me some free time. Went to town on the silicone since it was looking a bit beat. I'm doing the same thing I did previously on my first frag tank, applying silicone to it. No I am not taking it apart, I'll just be cleaning up around the seems and reapplying silicone. I am aware that it will not stick to old silicone but it will be a lot cleaner once I'm done and probably stronger then the current way it is.

Few pictures of the before, during and then cleaned up.

Yet again, another mess. Will have to clean this again before taping the tank up for silicone.

For kicks, had to pull the old Bubble King Mini 180 off the other system and clean it up. It's been running like a champ for a while now so cleaning it can only help it get back on track. I must admit, the Germans know how to build a great skimmer!

Enjoying the progress Eric.

Thanks, always a working progress. One step closer to getting things under way.

I was able to tape up the tank and silicone the corners and such. 24" is not as big as I expected, but I was able to lay down in the tank to work. LOL

Not bad, I could have done better. Before it had no silicone on the corners, this is better then nothing. Few days of curing and then I'll do a quick rinse of the tank and start the fill. Sand will be washed on Sunday or maybe tonight/tomorrow. Tiles and rock structures are ready to go as well so the rest should be quick. Still awaiting on the skimmer to come in, will have to call on Monday or if I'm lucky they will pick up tomorrow and update me.
