You can totally do both! Marcos live rock is only $100 shipped for 5lbs. They usually give you a bit more though. Comes with life. Pods, feather dusters, sponges, bristles. Even at 5lbs!

Check out my build. I used a mixture of both.
That might be great, could use that in my sump at the very least

Before I place the order can you confirm- if you know- if I can sump this and have it work?

I mean you could. I personally would toss them in the display. It depends on the sizes they send you. My first order was actually 4 larger pieces. My second order was 2 larger but then rest was rubble. So again it depends. Nothing wrong with breaking them apart to place in the sump. I would just plan ahead as you may want you use your space wisely.

Will it be a different outcome if I do display vs sump? In terms of benefit?

Okay attempt 3. Tried breaking the rock but I just ended up creating craters. Ugh
Created swim lanes and the height of the tallest spot is about 7.5in.

If you look at my build thread i just aquascaped mine after 6 years being away from the hobby. I broke down marco reef rock and used glue masters thin viscosity and marco powder to fuse the rock together. Was able to make some ledges and arches.

I looked up your tank, you've got plenty of room to go higher .... Doesn't need to be flat, unless that's the look you want... Which is fine, but then I would limit the number of fish.
I’ll try another where I stack them- I have live rock coming so I could use all of the rock I have for one mountain with lanes and then the rock coming for the islands

Came across this video, for which i wanted to show that MiniQ Skimmer on this tank and also that this reefer has the powerhead on the opposite side. This will help w/ nutrient export to the skimmer. But you will see they use the floss / bio all setup into a skimmer. So just some visual to the info I provided earlier.

I have 2 ai blades, would it be too much light setting them both up? Also any recs for heaters?
From my research it depends on what you want to keep, and how your mounting it. Mines mounted directly on the tank (resting on it). From what I have seen on Par numbers I should expect a 400-500 par directly below the light @ 8 inches deep. the corners are pretty dead the way its lit right now. It really depends.

After dealing with two failing or extremely imprecise Eheim-Jagers that are supposed to be one of the best brands, I went with a cheap 50w Nicrew on my IM 25g AIO Lagoon. It has a short 5.5" heating element that easily fits in any of the back compartments, and an external digital controller that keeps the temp within 1° of my set point at all times. No heater brand is perfect, but so far I love this one.

I also have this Nicrew to go into my IM15 next. Moving from a Hygger Heater which has ran for over two years but isn't the easiest to clean. Looking to proactively replace it and like the form factor of the Nicrew.
