Last weekend I added my first BTA to the tank, it moved a few inches then settled in a spot and hasn’t budged since.

I’m curious if these things can get “stuck” - it’s foot is wedged in a narrow gap between two pieces of rock with the trunk/body sticking out and occasionally swinging from one side to the other.

BTAs "hold" onto the rock with their feet. If it's sitting in a spot that makes it happy it'll grab on and stay put - at least until it decides to be picky and move again.

Nope. I got a Adhesive Nem that made her home around the return outlet. Loves it there even though the flow out of the outlet is crazy. Been there for month now. Gotta be happy.

Mine goes sideways out from the rock to stretch to the top of my tank. Typical behavior for a BTA.
Mine like it under the rock to sleep and then stretch out from under the rock when the lights come on for flow and light.

I need to move him to do a 25% water change because my nitrates are over 25 every thing else is good so I'm going to try a water change hoping it brings it down

25% water change will bring nitrates down 25% from where you are now.
Assuming the mixed water doesn't have any nitrates in it. Some salt mixes have been reported to have nitrates even when using RODI.

BUT it should definitely bring it down close to 25% unless you use water with high nitrates.

that means it likes that spot, they don't get stuck but rather attach their foot to the rock. If it is unhappy then it will move to where it is more pleasant.
