That is an awesome looking garden! One of my wife's aunts does gardening as well, but she does more of the produce kind instead of flowers.
I used to do produce gardening but when our boys grew up, married and moved then we couldn't eat enough to keep up and canning seemed like more work than I wanted to invest anymore. That's when I switched to flowers. Ha ha, and I flower garden much like I reef; a bit on the wild, free spirited way!

Some things haven’t been so great in my life lately. But instead of employing destructive habits, I lean on my reefing. It provides the focussed distraction I need to realign my mental status, and get back to being myself. Do you use reefing as your mental therapy? How does it help you, if so?

Here’s a section of my new LPS frag tank that I was enjoying recently.

I do, I am in recovery and it helps with my idle time. It's been very instrumental for me, not my retirement savings, lol.

Yes.

I don't know what it is though, but the longer I have my hands in the tank I get itchy spots on my hands. It never used to be this way when I was younger. Oh well... That's love... GL.

Very well, put brother same goes for me, especially in early recovery it’s such a hard time, so I was always doing something with my tank to keep my mind off of doing bad things

I use my reef tank as a way to calm down my brain. I am a father, husband, son , brother , and employee. Life is stressful and looking and thinking about my tank gives me some peace. The great part is that my wife and kids love my tank as well. It’s also a little crazy how some non reefers just don’t get it.

Have you tried gloves for when you have to mess with your tank?

I break out into hives sometimes on my arms from reaching into the tanks. Same as you, I didn’t have reactions like that in my younger years. Luckily it goes away in a few hours. Hopefully it doesn’t interfere with your enjoyment of reefing.

In a way I'd say yes. But not for the reasons others here have listed. I have to build something with my hands constantly. Kind of a way to keep moving, or staying productive. This is something that is only for me, that I get to build and then see grow, that I have no control over what these organisms are going to do for the most part. I can set the best intentions, but if I stray or wander from those they suffer. So it builds accountability in something more. To see what the tank can do next, with the right amount of maintenance and luck. And that has me excited. I've ignored some of the tanks in the past few months working on the house, and seeing things falter or perish caused me stress. Seeing it recover with good husbandry has helped with that and has me excited to see what's just around the corner in my little slice of the reef.

Reefing is great when things are going well in your tank. It is a little less therapeutic when there is foolery. My DT is doing great. I have a sick trigger in the QT. She is currently in copper. Wondering if she's going to eat, or die, or get better is stressful and not therapeutic, ha!

When I put my tank together I told my wife it's a therapy tank. Definitely helps. What is the pink and light blue coral in the back left? I have it but don't know what it's called.
