Goniopora question

Good afternoon Y'all,

First let me start by apologizing for the horrible picture as I am on my livestream camera from the office but I have a quick question, I had a pair of Maroon clowns that tried to use my two gonis as a host, they killed one and I removed them and got a new pair that dont look at anything but their two nems. but this Goni (now extending more than before) does not fully extend, is this reason for concern or does it just need more time? It has been about 2-3 months since I traded out the clowns.

- Salinity 1.026
- Alk -9.2
- Mag 1650
- Cal 400
- PH stays at 8-8.2

- my gonis are kept between 100-150 PAR with low to moderate random flow

You know, I have a goni that could be yours' twin and the best extension I've had on it, was when it was in the sand in the darker corner.

It does like medium flow. But maybe too much light???

Your attachment isn’t loading, I know gonis are touchy so I’m scared to even touch it I might move it to the sand bed away from the nems so the clowns don’t touch it

im going to have to find a place on the sand bed that doesnt get much fish traffic, how do your gonis do with fish touching them? I have a lot of large fish in this tank

I did dim my lights and the goni does have a bit more extension but now the torch is sulking so that's not gonna work, I'll move the goni down from 150 par to the sand bed that sits between 80-100 par and see what happens

no I am wondering if I should be worried about my torch LOL who the hell told me to get into reef keeping when I was a kid

Dude if you somehow find that happy perfect lemme know. At this point focus on what is for the GREATER good. You try to make every coral happy and they will all croak on you. Go for the best you can do in your piece of the reef. In the end remember that in the wild these corals 1. Never even see each other, 2. Have the same light source, 3. Are not (usually) 4 feet apart and 18"-30" from thier "sun".

Think of it this way, and it's especially true for fish, these animals are collected from all over the world and forced to live in a box 4' x 2' x 18". Sometimes larger, sometimes smaller, but in the end they never see each other in the wild!!!!
And we wonder why they are ticked off???

I have two gonis on the sandbed, and they are both very happy.

alright moved him to the sand bed last night and this morning he is wide open torch is normal also and moved my re and yellow goni frags next to the big green one and I am getting even more polyp extension, I cant wait to see what they look like 3 or 4 days from now
