sixty_reefer & ((FORDTECH)) ~~~ thank you both for the input.

I've placed an order for the Tropica Specialised.

In an earlier post I referred to having seen similar fittings.
These are what I was referring to:

https://smile.amazon.com/JOMISSLY-Aquarium-Thickened-Generator-Dioxide/dp/B0B6143V6N/ref=sr_1_32?crid=3TKACNKR607T4&keywords=aquarium+co2&qid=1663621375&sprefix=aquarium+CO2%2Caps%2C120&sr=8-32

and

https://smile.amazon.com/Aquarium-Choice-Pieces-Reactor-Bottle/dp/B08D84V1MM/ref=sr_1_47?crid=3TKACNKR607T4&keywords=aquarium+co2&qid=1663621375&sprefix=aquarium+CO2%2Caps%2C120&sr=8-47

They're used by freshwater plant people to cheaply deliver CO2 to their tanks.

There now seems to be two different sizes of K1 Media with K1 Micro being the newest. I'm inclined to go with the original size. Any thoughts?

I think the bulkhead found in the bottle can be found on Amazon.
Look for

1/4" RO Water Tube Fitting,Bulkhead Connector,Quick Connect Bulkhead Connector, for RO Water system, Water filters, Water purifiers Fittings

Unfortunately, I believe they don't come with a bulkhead. I'll be using aquarium silicone on mine.

The first 2 links do not open for me. Yes 2 different sizes. I only have experience with the k1 which is smaller size so let me tell you what I’ve learned. I added the handful and right away thought something was wrong. They just float at top. During inspection I felt they was full of bubbles so I tried to pop them to make k1 tumble but no luck. In the end it took using a much larger air pump th en I thought was required. Along with this adding the stronger air pumps to all my cultures Ive found less or no crashes since and darker phyto.

For these smaller bulkheads they are above the waterline so do not need to be completely sealed there will be no water that leaks from them anyways. If you plan to use quarter inch for your drain for the exit to go to the tank it’s probably not a good idea because it will clog very fast this is why I used a half inch

Ok so just looked at those and they are pretty cool !! Those would work depending on design Took me a while to confirm that they do screw on the 2 L bottles and I was about to order some for myself and then did not due to the connection I use push fittings that I’ve converted all my dozers to and it looks like those use more like a nylon hose so would not work for me because I’ve already modified my dozers I may have done something different if I seen these first just for convenience but essentially yes will do the same thing

@sixty_reefer I am not in the reef side of things, more in the planted side of things. Lately have wanted to try to breed amano shrimps which requires salt water for zoes to survie. So I am on journey to set this project which brought me here as I was looking on how to make an F2 solution. I see it's not entirely necessary and good old fertilizer might do the job.

Anyhow, I saw you were at some point looking for substitute fertilizers so you could propose to others. This is where I come in handy. A friend and I made this fertilizer calculator that enables you (among other things) to clone commercial fertilizers. We spend a great deal of time refining it. It's being out for 2 year already and there is a fair amount of products including all those mentioned in this thread. I thought this could be useful here. Calculator is public and free for anyone to use. It was done under Excel. You can download it from here: https://www.ukaps.org/forum/threads/ifc-aquarium-fertilizer-calculator.63045/

Hopefully that helps anyone wanting to clone commercial products instead of buying obscenely expensive water. ;)

Thank you, very interesting.
On the products that only increase nitrogen what would be the main ingredient? Urea?

Looking into more options to use the continuous phytoplankton photo reactor, had to change the reactor as the last one was getting to dirty on the top and looking unpleasant to be on display.
Pop bottle are fairly inexpensive and easily replaced.

It depends on the product as each manufacturer have their own recipe and some of them don't disclose the actual compound used but in general if there is only nitrogen chances are it is urea. Could also be ammonium.

This ADA product for instance uses urea:

Tropica Specialised Nutrition (although it's a complete fertilizer) uses ammonium compound, probably ammonium nitrate or ammonium sulfate. They don't publicize it but they have communicated that with me privately.

Apologies for that, I have deleted them from my YouTube without realising that they would be removed from past threads and articles
