Run the cup as high as possible meaning don't push it down and lower the water level in the tank.
Start there.
Im gonna get my skimmer online again today. Should I worry about the break in period still? I will make sure that the cup is as high as possible. what does this do exactly? Also nitrates are 20-15ppm where should I go from there?

Nitrates seem great right there, not seeing any reason to go lower.
Just run the skimmer with the water as low as possible in the skimmer for now so it won't overflow.

I know nothing of briopis.
Lots of threads on r2r about it.
Put it in the search and read, read, read.

You can if you wish but not necessary if you are doing regular water changes and changing out your filter pads, etc.
Yes if they start getting gross do it.
Your goal is to just keep things nice and don't let it get out of hand again. :)

About my filter... I found some concerning stuff in it the other day. I took the basket out and the water was not clear it was very dirty, I put the basket back in and it didn't seem to be clearing. Was this just a temporary thing or should I siphon my filter maybe?

You can take the tidal to the sink, dump it out and clean it if you want.
If you have biomedia in it, put it in some tank water while you are cleaning the filter.
Don't know about the skimmer dude you'll have to ask dad if he was mad at it when it leaked all over the floor. ;)

You'll have to be more specific about the skimmer then we'll go from there....:smiling-face:
Well... I plug it in and it wont fill up at all, I don't even think the pump is on at all. Should I take some parts off and just look into it?

Will do... However Fungi might end up shipping me the Remora. What if I just used both?
You can.
The remora is a better skimmer I believe.

I'd beleive the Remora is the better skimmer. I don't wanna abandon this one all the way quite yet. If I were to use both is it just more waste removal almost as good as a sump?
