Trolling aside, why are people still investing in these vs other tanks? Is there something special about their tanks/designs that’s superior to other manufacturers?
Most of these modern tank/stand packages look nearly identical to me :/
I agree I'd be listing the replacement for sale and buying something else.
This is true. We had a lfs open up about a block away from our house last year. We went in back in March to take a look ( I got out of the hobby in 2012) and see if maybe we wanted another tank. This guy sells mostly red sea equipment and only red sea tanks. We were looking at a 130ish gallon red sea tank ( I don't know the exact number or gallon but it was around 130 gallons) the tank and stand was priced at around $3500. We asked him for a estimate on a full setup lights, filtration,powerheads ect. He told us around 15k that included installation. I couldn't believe it had gotten so expensive. That encounter was the reason I found this forum ( used to frequent reef central) and started me on my current build at 1/3rd the price. We were seriously considering that red sea tank I'm very thankful I found this place and ended up taking the DIY approach lol. The information I've learned here over the past few months is worth every penny I've spent in support of this great community.
