The new Kessil A360XE

Would two of the new Kessil A360XE be overkill over a IM-40 Long (35L x 15W x 13H)

Would I just run them at a lower output level?

Do it!!! I found that slowly ramping up the light has had largely positive effects on my tank. Algae and cyano creep in easier too. But that is all part of the journey

Heard the fans are quite loud on the 360x the XEs could be louder? if that would bother you, probably not too much of an issue if on low.

I've never head the fan(s) on any of my a360x's. Of course one should pay attention to regularly scheduled cleaning which includes a gentle air blowing through the light to remove dust and dander or in my case German Shepherd dog hair...

I think they would be fine. . . MAYBE a little overkill depending on what you want to grow, but I still say go for it! I have two A160's on my 29gallon and want MORE POWER!!!

That said, my tank is a bit deeper and pretty full of SPS. . . you may be able to go a bit smaller/cheaper and still get what you are after. . . depending on what you are after!

I was surprised to hear they were noisy to be fair as i said I can’t hear the 160s…was from an experienced YT channel, maybe they had a duff pair.

What are you planning to keep is the question. I have 2 360x with the 55 reflectors and the reef Brite add on. Hovering 10" off water on a 2x2x2. No fan noise and 1 didn't cut it. Also the 360 has burn out issues when ran past 60% from a lot of reviews but maybe fixed now so 2 at 50% vs 1 at 100% is better imo.

Not 100% sure, most likely a small mixed reef, figured these would allow me to keep my options open.

Does anyone have any real world experience with the new Kessil lights that came out a few weeks ago? It seems like Kessil gets shunned when it come to reef tank lighting.

Did someone pull a fast one on me? I just took a picture of the two that I purchased and they have logo on the lights “A360X” not “A360XE”, I quickly checked box and they have labels that say A360XE.

These two are of the lights I got recently.

Mine also says 360X, but has 360XE on the box. So it's either supposed to be like that or we both got duped.. hah

Wow I hope they didn’t put the wrong light in the box. If so I’m sure they will make it right. Does the serial number on the light match the serial number on the box if present?
