The new Kessil A360XE

Just reach out to them via email / contact us via their portal. I had to reach out to them during the peak of Covid and they got back to me on the same day. Reading through the product description the new kit fits in the existing 360 so it wouldn't surprise me that they used current casing. The price is also the same.

Does anyone have any real world experience with the new Kessil lights that came out a few weeks ago? It seems like Kessil gets shunned when it come to reef tank lighting.

Divisive brand it seems.
My fave for reef lighting & several others I know feel the same but they do seem to get bashed a lot online.

Thanks. Interesting to say the least. I would definitely call or email them on Monday. I can't imagine someone switching as that would be an open box and bad karma. Doesn't mean it couldn't happen but that would be pretty crappy.

My guess, or hope, is that it is the new kit using older cases without new markings. They should know though esp when providing the serial number.

Edit: if they have a contact us via their portal do that today or tomorrow so you are ahead in their queue when they come in.

Mine is also showing A360X in the App instead of A360XE..

@ArizonaReefer I looked at the box it came in a little closer.. while the box is branded as A360XE, the light shown on the box does not have the A360XE logo. Not sure that makes it any clearer..

The box is branded A360XE only because they put stickers over what was printed on the box A360X

"We identified that some of the early production is missing the "E" in the back plate, however it is the proper light. As it's a cosmetic issue, this is not something that will impact the user experience + use.

A few visuals that confirm the unit is indeed an A360XE not the old A360X.
1) Box labeled A360XE
2) Serial number on the box and lamp labeled A360XE
3) Array is in the new A360XE configuration (denser, not an "X" shape - see attached photos)
4) Serial number starts with LB (all old A360X units have serial numbers that start with L4)"

I did ask if they knew why the light shows in the App as A360X instead of XE - Kessil's response;

"Yes, that is correct and normal for these. They will register at X units in the Kessil app."


If I ever decide to sell this light down the road it's going to be tough to explain why my newer model car has all old badging and the old hood hah

Yes it will be a hard sell. Convincing someone that you have what you have. However I feel that you will be happy with the light for a long time.

I won a Kessil A360Xe tuna blue from BRS. I have a 4 ft tank with a center brace. Is there any way I can incorporate this light? Currently I have 2 popbloom rl90s that are doing a good Job at less than 100% running for over a year now.

I cannot justify the price for a second one. Thoughts?

Heard the fans are quite loud on the 360x the XEs could be louder? if that would bother you, probably not too much of an issue if on low.

Can’t hear my A160s.

They make no sound whatsoever

Would two of the new Kessil A360XE be overkill over a IM-40 Long (35L x 15W x 13H)

Would I just run them at a lower output level?

I Just got the new XE and so far, so good. I have not had it long enough to give it a full review, but it is quiet! no real fan noise.

I have the wifi dongle and connected to my Apex. I have not used the app to make any adjustments.

so far I like it but I wouldn't say its a giant leap in performance from the 360 X
