Oh God, I'm still laughing!!!!
I swear this was common during our first year of marriage. I built the tank stand upside down (fixed it), an end table upside down (did not fix it), and maybe one other piece of furniture I built incorrectly. After building some bookshelves and a coffee table, I haven't messed up with building anything just yet.

I used salt water for my ATO, before realizing Salt does not evaporate. I got to about 1.030 before realizing it.

The other bonehead thing I seem to not be able to stop doing is telling people the TV is not there to INFORM but rather to MISLEAD, stop watching any news affiliated with NBC. (btw that's all of them, NBC/Universal/Disney is owned by COMCAST and they control 90% of the Global Media, including abc, cbs, cnn, fox, etc. it's all fake.

See, there I go again :(
I’m always afraid of filling the ATO with salt by accident, and my silly brain says “taste some!” before pouring it in. I don’t though XD

I actually had to rethink this when planning the ATO and I felt really dumb for forgetting that salt doesnt evaporate. Yes, I have a bio degree too. Facepalm.

My First battle with Dinoflagellates, I dosed bleach into my tank….. it worked and I did not lose anything but I won’t do it again as there are much better alternatives to that.

Took for granted that the used powerheads were okay before testing them in my display tank. The insulation on the cables had rotted right at the base and I shocked the entire tank. I had used a switching appliance, so 30 seconds on one side, 30 on the next, and so on until I noticed the anemones trying to leap out of the tank more or less...

It's so gratifying to see that I'm not the only one who has flooded various parts of the house leaving RO/DI filters on and walking away.

My husband finally said 'do it outside' and I can't believe I wasn't doing that from the get go. I even have a nice patio to set everything out on...

I will also never forgive myself for accidentally nuking my tank's biological filter trying to take out bryopsis. It cost the life of my amazingly beautiful black widow anemone. :loudly-crying-face:

Thought a big Brute on wheels would be a super easy way to move 30G saltwater mix from my rodi/mixing area to my tank in the living room. 1st time doing it I got it rolled to the family room just fine, but it turns out those things aren’t that stable. Bumped it. The wheels went one way and the Brute the other. I tried to catch it, but 30G saltwater pwned me and I woke up my sick wife and newborn with shouts of “earmuff” words. It took every towel in the house (plus a few blankets) and moving around all the furniture…but hey, the family room got a good deep cleaning.
sorry to laugh. that had to be awful. but ive learned to always pull, ;) dont push those full brute cans around

I remembered a good one tonight. First time, and last, used Red seas color program. I miss calculated the iron dosage. Some how I wound up doing over 100 mil of iron. Talk about an explosion of all things that were bad just hanging out for a drink in the tank.

Over trusting a TM Hydrometer for a year and a half. Spending hundreds and hundreds trying to fix a problem when in the end it was 1.035 salinity. I have an entire thread on here about that experience. Never felt so bad and defeated in my life.

Hah, everybody does it! I work in a laboratory and I have flooded the lab SEVERAL times when refilling carboys of RO/DI water. Nowadays we keep a kitchen timer next to the water filtration system.

What!? I thought those things were supposed to be super accurate, I have been considering getting one to use in reference with my Hanna salinity pen.

Did you talk with Tropic Marin?

saw some bubble algae start to form and said “naaahhh it’ll be fine” smh, stupid.
I’ve been there too, honestly I have kinda learned to live with it. I just pic the clumps out when they get big enough, and strangely it seems to be the worst around my overflow and in my refugium.
