I agree that it is possible that your water is too clean. I would try to get a bit more nitrate and a touch of phosphate. I know that is sounds different then most people are used to hearing the ultra low nutrient method, but some soft corals like a bit of nutrient in the water.

I used to run my tanks using tap water with seachem conditioner. I had some algae growth. I don't do it anymore, and it's not suggested, but eh, like many things in this hobby... it can be done.
Isn't that bad for the SPS and LPS tho? Trying to go for a mixed tank.

No phosphite?
I have 0 phosphates. Never have had any. Was able to get nitrates to almost 5 ppm only by doing a whole lot of feeding for a while. But now I have some algae starting to spring up... Rocks were white for the first four or five months (started with dry).

Just never heard of someone's mushroom not doing well because of too many WC.
