We use more than just basic phosphor used in white LEDs. We actually can mix multiple phosphors to get a richer spectrum and have far better control over the output! That's one part of the secret sauce. ;)

Only the Dutch can come up with this.

looking forward to when this comes out.

I was going to retro my ATI fixture but think this will be better to grade two of the e5 bulbs..

It's funny that I asked Marine Depot directly if they would be carrying this bulb without me knowing that they will, and they just responded with a smiley face. :)

Ok, so RAP has came and went. I've only been able to find a bit of information and an image of the 15k lamp. Can you please show us samples of the other lamps in use? I would love to be able to actually see these as well as what type of shimmer these provide.

From reading the reefbuilders article and discussion along with it with the company answering questions it seems that these will not have the shimmer of leds. They will be a direct replacement for t5's with a very similar look to "normal" t5 bulbs.

I have an ATI Power module with both LEDs and 4 T5s because I don't believe LEDs alone are enough. These bulbs don't change that but if T5s are all you have, this has to be exciting news.

Sorry guys for the delay. I saw the bulbs at the show.

Unfortunately all of the bulbs did not arrive at the show. The only bulbs that arrived were the white bulbs.

They had a plan to show off the bulbs in a 10 bulb ATI Powermodule. They had 5 E5's on the left and 5 T5's on the right. I got to see it lit up for a brief moment and to the eye, the LED was visually a tad brighter. IMO, that was impressive as the a T5 in a Powermodule is as good as it gets for T5. The problem for Euroquatics, was the overall output of a 10 bulb Powermodule was way too bright to use as a display. They then opted for some Aquatic Life fixtures that they placed over a tank, LED's on one side and T5 on the other. Basically the bulbs were pretty close although the E5 seemed to be a bit more white (could be because some of the white E5s were 15k and 20K. They also had watt meters showing the 40% energy savings.

As for shimmer, there is none. It looks just like a T5.

Was the tank that they had them on filled with water and had water movement or no

Yes. We had a 240g aquarium (full of water, with fish, and flow) with only two 4' T5HO lamps on one side and two 4' E5 lamps on the other. (We would have had more blue, but the Blue Pop lamps didn't make the show. I'm not sure if we can post from blog sites or not, but Jake Adams did a big post with pictures on his builders site.

*trying to make sure we follow rules*

Wait until you see the side by side spectral measurements! ;)
There are two on our FB page now with more to come. However, mix and match is a completely valid option and we're sure MANY will do just that.

The best we can say at the moment is there is a lot of activity around the E5s... We're releasing the Retro Series (direct replacements that have the same look as T5HO lamps) and we're playing with a few other things that might expand on that. If things work out well on the front we'll make some announcements at Reef Stock in Feb. ;)

Do you see any of the shimmer that LEDs bring or the the LEDs so densely packed that you don't get any summer

This question has been answered several times in this thread. In fact it's been answered within the last 10 min
I want to hear it from the horses mouth thank you seeing as they're the only people that have seen them all working and running properly

Post number 92. Thank you. Straight from the horses mouth. Thank you.

I realize it's tough to read sometimes but really just a little effort goes a long way.

Thank you

And I'm personally willing to bet but there will be some sort of shimmer coming off of them maybe not as much as normal LED fixtures but still higher than what you get with t5 lighting that's why I'm asking the question from the people who make them produce the bulbs

Look has nothing to do with shimmer post number 92 says look, look could mean how the light spreads throughout the tank in a linear fashion
