We run the ac and the tanks in the living room so opening a window isn't an option. But that's very interesting that opening a widow can do that.
That's fine keeps tank cooler too.
Try opening at night.
Do you have a fuge?

CO2 scrubbers can help also.

Opening the window and door allows CO2 exchange which helps raise (or lower,) pH.

I try and stick with saltwater specific products just to be safe.
I used kent buffer, seachem buffer a few times over the years but don't anymore at all.
Do you supplement alkalinity at all?
No I don't supplement with alk do I need to?

Not necessarily just asking.
Those products can raise ph too.
I just try, emphasis on try to go as natural as possible.
Just me.

That is what I would rather do as well I don't like adding chemicals to any of my tanks.

That is the motto of saltwater aquariums lol
I have been very lucky over the years with my saltwater tanks.
I learned this motto many years ago and even now I go like a snail if something seems amiss tank wise.

Does anyone know if I could use a buffer to raise ph that is meant for cichlids in my tank? I am thinking no but I hate to throw away an almost full bottle if I can use it.
I put some of this in my ATO reservoir

How often do you guys dose phytoplankton?
Whenever. I dose it when I buy it. Sometimes once or twice a month, sometimes every 2 or 3 months., sometimes daily.

It's incredible that it was about to die months ago, I've wanted to have rainbow ones that are beautiful, but how true is it that all acans end up being orange over time?
Alot of the acans with multiple colors end up being 1 color. That's mostly because they aren't getting the right spectrum of light.
