I've gone through this thread as I'm finding I can't get my salinity down from 1.027. I do weekly 5 gallon water changes on my 32g mixed reef biocube. I've just come to fully realize that adding RODI is not enough. That I need to remove saltwater and add the RODI and test. I was told that before but it just didn't sink in. My tank is much smaller than what everyone here has. It also has a lid with a fan but I don't see the rate of evaporation you all are reporting but obviously it is since the salinity is rising. My question is how much saltwater should I take out and replace with pure RODI? Feel like a moron for not grasping this simple process sooner. I tried to use the calculator referenced above but it was still a little Greek to me (soft science major here lol)

I'm sure there is a calculator out there, but I'd just remove a cup, maybe two and replace with RODI. Wait an hour or so, test and repeat if needed.

I force a lot of evap. I have a fish room that’s 10x16 and it has a whole house dehumidifier rated for 2200 sq ft in it plus cooling fans and currently 36 sq ft of surface space. My ATO res is 34.3g and I would have to fill it from empty every 2-2.5 days if it weren’t for automation.
