Here is some info on velvet that was in my Baench Marine atlas. Don't know how much it helps though.

Wow! Thats quite the plot twist.
Hows he looking?

Swimming back around looking normal, just hope I didn't stress him more trying to send him to his grave early.

When I pulled the plug he was straight up against the rock and looked dead - didn't move at all after I had noticed him struggling to stay away from powerhead - I placed a rock over in front of the PH to help. Once I moved the rock he simply started swimming around like he was fine.

I don't expect him to make it still but he is still fighting the good fight

The overnight from looking fine to what your wife saw leaves me to wonder if the fish was badly stung a anemone or he has been Ill for a day or 2 before noticed. Would like to know what the final Id of what caused that much damage so quick.

Where any new fish or other inhabitant added to your tank recently? Quarantined?

No, nothing added at all

The only thing that could have done it would be my carpet anemone but they have been in the tank together for the past 2 months

Does it look like an anemone sting ???

It looks like a skin irritation or infection. Is his breathing normal?
I heard of carpet anemones eating fish before.

When sick ? Or new ?

I have a 20g Q tank setup that I use before putting fish in main tank yes
Yes I was asking if you qaurantine before adding to your main tank. If you haven't added anything recently then in theory it shouldn't be velvet or ich but nothing is 100%. Just trying to help I know it sucks to have these kinds of things happen

The carpet is pretty big, now you have my mind going as I always leave my moon lights on so they don't bump into him by accident and they actually just went out Monday night.

So would that actually had killed him or did I actually make it worse by trying to treat it ?

I haven't added anything or made any changes in months

Well what ever it was didn't take long - he passed tonight after moving over to Q Tank

Just crazy how happy he was just last night, hit really fast and hard
Darn dude sorry to hear that. It sucks when you get attached to a fish and think it was your fault he died.

Especially when that was my original freakin thought but that darn Google got me.

I found pictures of the exact symptoms and in a state of panic I pulled a Tony Romo and screwed everything up

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
