Hi. My name is Amy and we bought a new home in November. The home has a 120 ga built in tank and the tank, fish, corals, pumps and all equipment came with the home. We had no idea how to keep this tank alive, but somehow we’ve managed to do so for a couple months! We’ve had mega nitrate issues and that continued no matter what we tried so we had an algae scrubber installed and nitrates are coming down slowly but surely. We’ve only tested nitrates and phosphates at this point. We have had an aquarium specialist come out a couple times to show us how to change the water, etc. Right now my frustration is that the previous owners installed an Apex system and we have yet to be able to get the thing connected to our internet. Also, our bubbletips are moving all over the tank and I think it’s because our flow is too high and I cannot figure out how to fix it! Anyway blah blah, happy to be here. Everyone seems pretty nice and helpful. Thanks for letting me rant! I took these photos as the lights are dimming down for the night so I know the tank is dim in the photos.

Welcome to R2R! Wow! Talk about a learning curve! You definitely came to the right place for good advice from the friendlies people. The fact that you have been able to keep that awesome tank going is commendable. Bravo! Bring on the questions. We're here to help.

Awe you all are so nice! The tank was optional, they would take it out and repair the wall, or leave it in. Our 3 year old called our potential new home the “Nemo” house so we had to keep it! My husband and I are obsessed with trying to figure out the water, flow and Apex systems. Now that we are comfy doing regular water changes we are ready for the next step in keeping these precious babies alive and happy! We’ve spent quite a bit of money already trying to figure this out. The previous owners were building a new house so I can only assume they wanted bigger and better for their new one!

Welcome to R2R! A home that came with a 120 gallon tank along with a really nice equipment setup and sweet mixing station?!? That is awesome! And nice job jumping right into it and keeping everything going, that's no small undertaking. And to top things off, you have a 3 year old who actually shows interest? My 3 year old has zero interest. We took her to a LFS last week and all she did was play with a bunch of fake plants and helped rearrange a shelf of fish food.
